Giving back

Jo feels strongly that giving back is something we should all do if we can. She also likes to challenge herself and others as far out of her/ their comfort zone as possible, as often as possible.

Each year, Jo leads a team of non-athletes to complete challenges none of them think are possible. The team work, resilience and mental strength needed far outweigh the physical fitness required.

We choose a different charity each year leaning towards smaller, lesser known charities who will benefit most greatly from the funds raised.

To date, Jo & team have completed the following:
2016 – Ben Nevis Charity Challenge for Horsehead
2017 – Cotswold Way 100km Challenge for Bluebell Care
2018 – Race to The Stones 100km for Crohns & Colitis UK
2019 – Jurassic Coast 100km Challenge, Cotswold Way 50km Challenge, North Downs 50km Challenge & #1000Miles2019 for Adapt Prem Babies

Due to Covid related travel restrictions, we were grounded in 2020 and 2021 and walking became the only activity we didn’t want to do in our ‘free’ time!

2022’s challenge will be the 106km Isle of Wight race in May and funds raised will be in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. From my Mother in Law to my good friend’s father, dementia is impacting many of our nearest and dearest. It’s a horrible disease that strips away at a person’s dignity, physically and mentally, slowly changing them beyond all recognition. Please donate if you can;
